Dubai, United Arab Emirates

I am in Dubai for 5 days. I had a 12-hour layover in London Heathrow, and I am traveling by myself. Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture, and lively nightlife. Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. There is new building construction all over the city. I will be visiting these and other spectacular attractions this week, in addition to a day trip to Abu Dhabi. Everything is written in Arabic and English. The world’s largest mall, the Dubai Mall, is near the Burj Khalifa. Along with 1,200-plus shops and 150 restaurants, the venue is home to an indoor theme park, an ice rink, a huge indoor waterfall, a choreographed outdoor fountain, and the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
